Acceptable Use
The City of Vincent Public Library provides public access to information and communication technology resources free of charge for study, reference, and research purposes.
• Users must not behave in a manner that disrupts other users of library services such as playing sound on computers that is at a volume other library users can hear
• Users must not consume food or beverages next to the library computers
• Certain uses of the computer are prohibited, these include;
- Displaying or obtaining material that is considered to be obscene, offensive or abusive
- Downloading copyright-protected materials without the necessary permission
- Altering the setup of computers or their software
- Distribution of unsolicited advertising.
• Children and young people under the age of 16 years of age are prohibited from the use of Chat rooms
Penalties for Misuse
• The City of Vincent Public Library reserves the right to terminate sessions and refuse further computer access to any individual contravening these policies.
• Library staff are authorized to determine whether computer activity is unacceptable and will be subject to confirmation by a senior library officer.
